In August 2011 INASP and the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) collaborated on a training programme to build the training abilities of a group of African ‘master trainers’. Now that several months have passed since the training finished, INASP and IDS have decided to carry out an external evaluation in order to determine the nature and magnitude of the impact of this training programme. This will help them understand whether this is a cost effective approach for building the capacity of policy makers to access and use research. The survey is for both participants and non-participants of the programme and we estimate that it will take you around 10/15 minutes to complete it. It is important to make clear that we are independent evaluators working as consultants; this is not an INASP and/or IDS survey but an evaluation to their training programme.
